I will stamp all over 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.
Former two time world title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I will damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite such comments, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically known for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's greatest financial successes, regularly earning massive paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would stop the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for two years from now.
"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul said.
Size Difference
As the two fighters met for the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the match is truly proceeding.
